Meet the soloist for Dance of a Thousand Lights

14 Jul 2020 | BY BPSO

We’re delighted to announce that Benjamin Frith, our fabulous soloist from Symphony Hall 2019, is once again joining the BPSO on our recording of Dance of a Thousand Lights.

Speaking about the performance he said:

“In these challenging times for us all, but particularly so for certain sections of the community, I grabbed with both hands the opportunity to play on line with the BPSO, to help raise funds for ‘The Blue Lamp Foundation.’

To be always on call and expected to do our best is sometimes stressful, as we musicians know, but the great conductor, Toscanini, once remarked, “No one is put in prison for playing wrong notes!”

Imagine then, being put regularly in emergency situations, where a single mistake in judgement or application could have terrible human consequences.

To these people, working tirelessly in the Blue Lamp services for us all, we owe a huge debt of gratitude.

I hope that  the public will respond generously to our ‘lock down’ performance of Rick Wakeman’s, Dance of a Thousand Lights, which combines the musical baroque and jazz styles in a brilliantly individual way.”
